We will focus on the mental well-being within the maritime educational institutions during the 2024/2025 school year. This is not limited to the students alone, but we will also focus on the managers and educators.
BluePoint Scholastic has dedicated the 2024/2025 school year to focus on mental well-being in the maritime educational world.
As I began researching the mental well-being of students back in the spring of 2024, I realized that many students are struggling during their college years. However, managers and educators are under pressure to perform as well. Managers have targets to reach, as do educators. Education is no longer just a place of learning; educational institutions are businesses where targets must be reached. These targets are often seen as a student outcome; either in the grades the students reach, or the number of students who graduate. This put a lot of stress on educators, as well as the managers.
Students in the maritime field are not only transitioning from their secondary education to college, but many students are transitioning into a whole new life, where they will be at sea for many months. They will be away from their families and friends, as well as from their new life at college.
Luckily, there are ways to improve the mental well-being of all actors in the educational field, and BluePoint Scholastic will focus on this during the 2024/2025 school year.
We have set up coaching for students, teachers, and managers, and we will re-launch our Introduction to Leadership and Intercultural Communication workshop as a self-paced online workshop at the end of 2024. We will launch our students’ Career Coaching and Mentoring Program at the beginning of 2025, in time for the student’s graduation and transitions into their work life at sea.
If your educational institution is interested in a live event, where we talk about the mental well-being for maritime education, we will be happy to set this up as well.
